The first time most buyers order a custom cover, they want to know one thing — how long is this actually going to take? It is a fair question. Custom production has a reputation for being a black box: send the file, wait, hope, get something close to what you wanted, accept it because the alternative is starting over.
Our process is built to remove most of that uncertainty. Nothing prints until you sign off on a proof. Revisions are unlimited and free. And the timeline from order to mounted cover is much shorter than most custom-print services run, because the production pipeline is set up specifically for round-canvas printing at known sizes.
The trade-off, if there is one, is that the first few days are about getting the design right rather than rushing into production. That is intentional. We would rather spend an extra day on the proof than ship a cover the buyer ends up living with reluctantly.
Here is what actually happens between the order and the moment the cover lands on the spare.
From idea to mounted cover takes about 11–19 business days end-to-end: 1–3 days for the design proof, 1–3 days for revisions, 5–7 days for production, and 4–7 days for shipping. Nothing prints until you approve the proof.
Step 1: Design submission
At checkout, you upload your image or describe the idea. The form accepts high-resolution JPG, PNG, vector AI, EPS, PDF, and SVG. For photo subjects (pets, family, vehicles), 1,500×1,500 pixels at 300 DPI is ideal — but we work with what you send. If all you have is a phone snapshot, we will tell you whether it is usable and what we can do with it.
Step 2: The design proof (1–3 business days)
The design team converts your submission into a print-ready file sized for the round canvas of the cover. You receive a digital proof showing exactly what the final cover will look like — colors, text, customizations, and layout all in place. The proof is rendered at the cover’s actual dimensions so what you see is what gets printed.
Step 3: Approval and revisions
This is the moment to ask for changes. Color tweaks, text rewording, scale adjustments, layout shifts — anything. As many revisions as you need, no extra charge. If you decide the design is not for you, the order is fully refundable up to this point. Nothing prints until you sign off.
Step 4: Production (5–7 business days)
After approval, the cover goes into print and sewing. Marine Grade Vinyl orders run through our US production pipeline. Other materials are produced by our quality-controlled manufacturing partners. Each cover is built to your exact size and material specification.
Step 5: Quality control
Every cover is inspected before it leaves: print color accuracy against the approved proof, edge sealing, attachment hardware (drawcord or elastic band), the centered backup-camera hole if ordered, and overall stitching quality. Anything that does not meet spec gets sent back through production.
Step 6: Shipping (4–7 business days)
Free worldwide shipping with tracking. US delivery typically runs 4–6 business days from dispatch. International orders include all duties and taxes — there are no surprise fees at delivery.
Step 7: Delivery and installation
The cover arrives ready to mount. Slide it on, secure the drawcord or elastic, and you are done in under a minute. If anything is off — size mismatch, print defect, shipping damage — reach out within 30 days for a free replacement.
Frequently asked questions
What is the fastest a custom order has gone from idea to delivery?
US Marine Grade Vinyl orders have made it to the buyer in as little as 8 business days when the design approved on the first proof. Most custom orders land in the 11–14 day range.
Can I rush an order for a specific date?
Reach out at order time and we will prioritize the proof and printing within our normal process. We cannot guarantee rush production beyond what the pipeline allows, but the approval-first design step means you control the proof timeline yourself — approving quickly is the single biggest time-saver.
What happens if I do not approve the proof?
You can request unlimited revisions, or cancel the order for a full refund. Nothing prints until you sign off, so there is no risk of receiving a cover you do not love.
Do you keep my design on file for reorders?
Yes. If you want to order a second cover with the same design later — same vehicle, different vehicle, or a gift — reference your original order and we pull the approved artwork from the archive.
