Jeep Wrangler spare tire covers
Custom spare tire covers for every Jeep Wrangler — YJ (1987–1995), TJ (1997–2006), JK (2007–2018), and JL (2018–present). Free backup-camera cutout, free custom design, free worldwide shipping. Sized to Sport’s 245/75R17, Sahara’s 255/75R17, and Rubicon’s 285/70R17 muds — including the 4xe and 392 V8.
Built for every Wrangler generation — YJ rectangular-headlight to JL Hurricane
The Wrangler is the only modern vehicle that still bolts the spare to the tailgate as standard issue. Every owner needs a cover; nobody wants a generic one. Our Wrangler covers are sized for the actual stock spares Jeep fitted, generation by generation:
- Wrangler YJ (1987–1995) — rectangular headlights, leaf-sprung. Stock spare 215/75R15 on Sport / Renegade, 30×9.50R15 on the AMC-era 4.2 inline-six trims. Tailgate-mounted on the steel tire carrier.
- Wrangler TJ (1997–2006) — coil springs, round headlights returned. Stock 215/75R15 (SE), 225/75R15 (Sport), 30×9.50R15 (Sahara). LJ Unlimited (2004–2006) on 225/75R16. The Rubicon trim arrived in 2003 with 31×10.50R15 muds stock.
- Wrangler JK (2007–2018) — first 4-door (Unlimited). Stock 225/75R16 (Sport), 255/75R17 (Sahara on 17-inch), 255/75R17 (Rubicon LT). The most-modified Wrangler generation — aftermarket on 35-inch tires is normal.
- Wrangler JL (2018–present) — Pentastar V6, Hurricane 2.0T, 4xe plug-in hybrid (2021+), 392 V8 (2021–present). Stock 245/75R17 (Sport), 255/75R17 (Sahara), 285/70R17 (Rubicon, Mojave, 392). The 4xe carries a slightly different spare under the rear cargo floor on some trims.
- Wrangler 4xe (2021–present) — the plug-in hybrid Wrangler. Same stock spare as the equivalent JL trim (Sahara 4xe on 255/75R17, Rubicon 4xe on 285/70R17). Battery placement doesn't affect the rear-mounted spare.
- Wrangler 392 (2021–present) — 6.4L Hemi V8. Stock 285/70R17 muds with the Rubicon 392 spec.
Lifted on 35×12.50R17 BFGs? On 37s with a 4-inch lift? On the stock 285 Rubicon muds? Just enter your tire's actual sidewall numbers at checkout — custom sizing is free.
Free backup camera cutout, on every cover
JK and JL both have factory backup cameras integrated into the rear bumper (JK) or the tailgate (JL). The cover needs a camera-shaped cutout to keep the camera unobstructed. We cut the hole during production at no charge — just send the diameter and offset (centre of camera from centre of spare).
To add it, select the "with camera hole" option at checkout. We cut the hole during production — no special order, no surcharge, no production delay.

Choose your material
Wrangler owners are the most material-aware buyers we serve — daily drivers, trail rigs, overlanding builds, garage-queens. Pick by how the rig actually gets used:
Polyester — $69 (Budget)
Lifespan 2–3 years. Drawstring cord attachment. Right call for a daily-driver Wrangler that lives garaged most of the time. Drawstring, 2–3 years.
PVC — $99 (Waterproof)
Lifespan 3–4 years. Elastic band attachment. The volume choice for daily JL and JK Wranglers parked outside in cities or coastal climates. Snug elastic, waterproof, factory look.
PU Leather — $129 (Premium look)
Lifespan 3–4 years. Elastic band attachment. Premium grain that matches the upmarket Sahara High Altitude / Rubicon X / 392 Final Edition trims. Soft, factory-quality, elastic band.
Marine Grade Vinyl — $169 (Heavy duty, printed and sewn in Florida)
Lifespan 5+ years. Drawstring cord attachment. What we recommend for Florida, Texas, Arizona, Southern California Wranglers parked outside year-round. Marine Grade Vinyl is what you want against the desert sun.
Marine Grade Vinyl Lux — $199 (Top spec, printed and sewn in Florida)
Same Marine Grade Vinyl spec plus integrated anti-theft lock — exclusive to Marine Grade Vinyl Lux only. Marine plus integrated anti-theft lock. Worth it on Rubicon, 392, and Final Edition Wranglers parked in urban driveways. The lock has stopped a lot of opportunistic spare-tire-lift attempts.
Materials built for off-road use
| Material | Price | Lifespan | Durability | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Polyester Budget | $69 | Up to 2 yrs | Daily driver in covered parking or garage. Lightweight, UV-resistant, easy to swap. | |
| PVC Water-resistant | $99 | Up to 3 yrs | Trail rigs and weekend off-road use. Water-resistant, handles mud and brush scratches well. Clean with mild soap and water. | |
| PU Leather Premium look | $129 | Up to 3 yrs | Daily driver with OEM matte-black aesthetics. Best match for factory finishes on Jeep, G-Wagon, and Ford Bronco. | |
| Marine Grade Vinyl Heavy duty | $169 | Up to 5 yrs | Year-round outdoor parking, coastal humidity, desert sun, Arizona heat, sub-zero winters. 1mm heavy-duty construction, our most durable option. | |
| Marine Grade Vinyl + Anti-Theft Kit Top spec | $199 | Up to 5 yrs | Same Marine Grade Vinyl construction as above, with added locking anti-theft hardware. Best for high-visibility parking and long-term outdoor exposure. |
Cleaning note: Pressure washing is not recommended for any Wheel Shell cover, regardless of material. Hand wash with mild soap and lukewarm water, rinse thoroughly, and air dry. Pressure washing can damage the printed surface and shorten cover lifespan.
Color matching note: Matte PU Leather and Marine Grade Vinyl reproduce factory matte black most accurately. Glossy PVC and Polyester read as deep charcoal under direct sun. For OEM paint-match, send your paint code at checkout — we calibrate the print and send a proof before production.
Color matching: Punk'n on a Sahara, Sting-Gray on a Rubicon, Hellayella on a 392 — we've matched every Wrangler paint code Jeep ships. Send the code from the doorjamb sticker (or just a clear photo) and we match before printing.
How the cover attaches to your Wrangler's spare
Every Wrangler from YJ to JL mounts the spare on the tailgate with the factory tire carrier. The cover wraps the tire and tightens with elastic or drawstring:
- Elastic band (PU Leather, PVC): Stretches over the tire and grips behind the tread for a snug, factory-style fit.
- Drawstring cord (Polyester, Marine Grade Vinyl, Marine Grade Vinyl Lux): Wraps over the tire and tightens with a drawcord. Adjustable for any spare diameter.
If you're running an aftermarket heavy-duty tire carrier (Smittybilt, Mopar, AEV, Maximus-3) the fitment is identical — the cover sits on the tire, not the carrier.

Frequently asked questions about Jeep Wrangler spare tire covers
What size cover do I need for my Wrangler JL Sport?
Stock JL Sport runs 245/75R17, which works out to 31.5 inches (80 cm) overall. If you've upgraded to 33s or 35s (BFG All-Terrains or KO2 Mud-Terrains are popular), enter your actual tire's overall diameter at checkout.
What about a Rubicon? It comes on 285/70R17.
Yes — Rubicon stock is 285/70R17 muds, which is 33 inches (84 cm) overall. Same for Rubicon 392 and Mojave. Use the 33-inch size at checkout, or enter custom diameter if you've gone larger.
Will the cover fit my JK on 35-inch BFG KO2s?
Yes — just enter 35 inches as the overall diameter at checkout. Custom sizing is free. We also commonly cut covers for 37×12.50R17 builds — same drill.
Does it fit the YJ rectangular-headlight Wrangler?
Yes — YJ Sport / Renegade ran 215/75R15 stock (27.7 inches), and many YJs are now on 30×9.50 muds (30 inches). Sized accordingly.
My Wrangler has a backup camera in the rear bumper / tailgate. Can the cover still work?
Yes — we cut the camera hole during production at no charge. Send the camera diameter and offset (distance from centre of spare to centre of camera). Hemmed clean, no DIY scissors needed.
Can I match the cover to my Punk'n Wrangler paint?
Yes — PFQ Punk'n is in our reference library along with Sting-Gray, Sarge Green, Hellayella, Firecracker Red, Granite Crystal, Earl, Bright White, and the rest of the Wrangler palette.
Will the cover fit a 4xe? The battery is in the back.
Yes — 4xe spare is still rear-mounted on the tailgate carrier. Battery placement doesn't affect the spare. Same sizing as the equivalent JL trim (Sahara 4xe = 255/75R17, Rubicon 4xe = 285/70R17).
What about the 392? It's the V8 with the hood scoop.
Yes — Wrangler 392 runs 285/70R17 muds with the Rubicon spec. 33-inch cover fits. We've made plenty of 392-graphic covers (V8 line drawing, Hemi badge, Final Edition lettering).
Can I get the Rubicon Trail map on the cover?
Absolutely. We've drawn the Loon Lake to Lake Tahoe Rubicon Trail many times, plus Hells Revenge, Pritchett Canyon, Cliffhanger, and other Moab classics. Approval-first, free design.
How long does shipping take to my address?
Production 2–7 business days plus 2–5 business days transit. Total 6–12 business days door-to-door, free worldwide. Express options available at checkout.
Will the cover work on an aftermarket tire carrier (AEV, Mopar Heavy Duty, Smittybilt SRC)?
Yes — any tire carrier that holds the spare upright on the tailgate works. The cover sits on the tire, not the carrier. We've seen every brand and they all play nice.
My Wrangler is a TJ with the spare on the tailgate hard-top hinge. Will it interfere?
No — the cover is soft and stretches over the tire. It doesn't interfere with the hard-top hinge, the door swing, or the tailgate operation. Standard TJ fitment.
