Jeep has carried the spare on the tailgate or carrier-mount on its body-on-frame 4×4s since the 1940s civilian CJ. Every Wrangler generation since the 1986 YJ keeps that layout, and the new JT Gladiator extends it with a swing-out tailgate spare. Our covers fit them all:
- Wrangler JL / JLU (2018–present): the current 4-door + 2-door Wrangler. Factory rear-tire backup camera lives on the spare itself — our camera-hole cutout is calibrated for it. Stock LT255/75R17 → 32″ cover; Rubicon LT285/70R17 → 33″ cover.
- Wrangler JK / JKU (2007–2018): the long-running Wrangler that built the modern Jeep aftermarket. Same tailgate-mount spare. Stock and Rubicon JK take 32″–33″ covers. No factory camera.
- Wrangler TJ (1996–2006): coil-sprung successor to the YJ; the Rubicon TJ is the off-road benchmark. 30″–31″ cover for stock 30×9.50R15.
- Wrangler YJ (1986–1995): the square-headlight original. Often runs aftermarket 33″+ tires now.
- Gladiator JT (2019–present): Wrangler-derived 4-door pickup. Spare lives under the bed by default but many owners relocate it to a swing-out bumper carrier — those builds use the same cover sizes as the Wrangler.
- Cherokee XJ (1984–2001): the unibody legend. Spare sometimes carried inside, sometimes on aftermarket tire carriers — covers fit either way.
- Grand Cherokee, Liberty, Compass: earlier Grand Cherokees and the Liberty (KJ/KK) carried external spares; later models moved them inside. We size to the spare diameter, not the model.

Wrangler JL / JLU and Gladiator JT carry a factory backup camera mounted on the rear spare. Every cover ships with an optional centered camera cutout sized for the JL/JT factory camera position — at no extra cost. Older Wranglers (JK / TJ / YJ) and Cherokees without a spare-mounted camera should leave the option set to "no."

Marine Grade Vinyl — $169 (Heavy duty, printed and sewn in Florida)
Lifespan 5+ years. Drawstring cord attachment. Spec'd for full-time outdoor parking — Florida coastal humidity, Arizona desert UV, Vermont winters, Colorado high-altitude sun. 1 mm heavy-duty construction printed and sewn in Florida.
Marine Grade Vinyl Lux — $199 (Top spec, printed and sewn in Florida)

Cleaning note: Pressure washing is not recommended for any Wheel Shell cover, regardless of material. Hand wash with mild soap and lukewarm water, rinse thoroughly, and air dry. Pressure washing can damage the printed surface and shorten cover lifespan.

The Wrangler and Gladiator carry the spare on a swing-out tailgate-mounted bracket. Slides on in under a minute, no tools or hardware required:
- Elastic band (PU Leather, PVC): Stretches over the tire and grips behind the tread for a snug, factory-style fit.
- Drawstring cord (Polyester, Marine Grade Vinyl, Marine Grade Vinyl Lux): Wraps over the tire and tightens with a drawcord. Adjustable for any spare diameter.

Will the cover work with my Wrangler JL / JT factory backup camera?
Yes — the camera-hole cutout is centered and sized specifically for the Wrangler JL / JLU and Gladiator JT factory rear-tire camera position. Select "with camera hole" at checkout. The cutout drops over the camera lens cleanly, no DIY trimming needed.
What size do I need for stock JL Wrangler?
Stock Wrangler JL Sport / Sahara runs LT255/75R17, which takes a 32″ cover. Wrangler JL Rubicon comes with LT285/70R17 from the factory, which takes a 33″ cover. Always size by overall tire diameter, not rim size.
Does it fit a lifted JL on 35s?
Yes — lifted JLs / JTs running 35-inch tires (315/70R17, LT315/75R16, 37×12.50R17) take a 35″ cover. We hold 35″ in stock; for 36″–37″ builds, custom sizing is free.
Will the cover work on a TJ or YJ Wrangler?
Yes. Stock TJ and YJ ran 30×9.50R15 — that takes a 30″–31″ cover. Many older Wranglers now run 33″ aftermarket tires, in which case choose 33″. Older Wranglers don't have factory rear cameras, so leave the camera-hole option set to "no."
Does this work on a Gladiator JT?
Yes. JT Gladiator stock LT255/75R17 takes a 32″ cover. JT Mojave / Rubicon configurations vary — size by the tire on the spare, not the cab trim. The JT factory backup camera is in the same position as Wrangler JL, so the camera-hole cutout works the same way.
Can I get a cover for my Cherokee XJ or Liberty KJ?
Yes — earlier Cherokee XJ and Liberty KJ / KK builds with rear-mounted spares take 29″–31″ covers depending on tire. The Cherokee KL (2014+) and newer Cherokee don't carry an external spare, so the cover doesn't apply.
Can I match the cover color to my Jeep paint?

PVC is the lighter-budget pick for occasional trail days; Marine Grade Vinyl is the spec for full-time overland builds.
