Kia Spare Tire Covers
A Kia spare tire cover from Wheel Shell is a custom-printed, weatherproof cover sized for the rear-mounted spare on early-generation Sportage and Sorento — the two Kia models that carried external spares before 2010. Built for daily-driver use and weekend exposure. Free centered backup-camera cutout, free worldwide shipping in 6–12 business days.
Built for early Sportage and 1st-gen Sorento with rear-door spare
Kia ran the rear-mounted spare on the Sportage from the 1995 1st gen through the 2010 2nd gen, and on the 1st-gen Sorento (2003–2009). Both models moved the spare internal in the 3rd-gen rebuilds. Our covers fit the eras that need them:
- Kia Sportage 1st gen (1995–2002): the original rebadged-Mazda Sportage. Rear-door-mounted spare on P205/75R15 → 27″ cover.
- Kia Sportage 2nd gen (2005–2010): rear-door spare retained on most trims. Stock P225/65R16 → 28″ cover.
- Kia Sorento 1st gen (2003–2009): body-on-frame Sorento with rear-door-mounted spare on the EX trim. Stock P245/70R16 → 30″ cover.
- Kia Sportage 3rd gen / Sorento 2nd gen+ : spare moved internal — cover doesn't apply.

Cleaning note: Pressure washing is not recommended for any Wheel Shell cover, regardless of material. Hand wash with mild soap and lukewarm water, rinse thoroughly, and air dry. Pressure washing can damage the printed surface and shorten cover lifespan.
Color matching note: Matte PU Leather and Marine Grade Vinyl reproduce factory matte black most accurately. Glossy PVC and Polyester read as deep charcoal under direct sun. For OEM paint-match, send your paint code at checkout — we calibrate the print and send a proof before production.
Color matching: Common Kia paint codes: Clear White, Snow White Pearl, Bright Silver, Sparkling Silver, Steel Gray, Black Cherry, Mars Orange. Send the code at checkout.
How it attaches to the Sportage / Sorento rear-door spare
Both models carry the spare on the rear-door bracket. Cover slides on in under a minute.
- Elastic band (PU Leather, PVC): Stretches over the tire and grips behind the tread for a snug, factory-style fit.
- Drawstring cord (Polyester, Marine Grade Vinyl, Marine Grade Vinyl Lux): Wraps over the tire and tightens with a drawcord. Adjustable for any spare diameter.
Both attachment systems clear the rear-door handle and license bracket.
